Intro to Raqs Sharqi (Belly Dance)

Raqs sharqi’s roots are in the social dances of the Middle East and North Africa. Learn the basic steps, shapes, and shimmies that make dancing fun and a source of connection across all ages and genders.

Beginner Shaabi Choreography

Shaabi, meaning "of the people," is a social music and dance genre from urban, working-class Egypt. The words are wry and the tunes are groovy, making it a popular genre seen in belly dancer shows all over the world.

Participants should have at least one raqs sharqi (belly dance) course before taking this course. Brand new? Check out this session's Intro to Raqs Sharqi course!
